Who is Mono?

That would be me. I was born in the 80s, grew up with a lot of music from the 80s and 90s and never grew tired of discovering new music.

My name really is Mono. That said: I still have two healthy ears to listen to music with. While I also like to make music, I am way better with words than with doing that, so most of my output these days is poetry, short stories or lyrics for songs of other people. Because this page is not about that though I will most likely not share much of that.

What is this site about?

This is a website about music that I feel I want to say something about. It's not a comprehensive listening guide, not bound to any genre and not methodically consistent. The only thing I want to be consistent with is to provide a human's perspective on the music I talk about.

What can I find here?

I have 4 main categories of posts in mind that I will briefly try and lay out for you. They might fade in and out while I am dealing with other things but those are the four I have consistently been thinking about for years now. You can find them from the menu above. They are as follows:

  • New Releases, where I take a look at freshly released music. Maybe the creators have recommended it to me, maybe I found them while browsing... I will tell you about it, either as a short shout out or as an in depth review
  • Late Discoveries is about music that has been there for a while now. I might be late to the party on some releases but they seem noteworthy nonetheless.
  • In Songs and Stories i want to talk about songs that changed my life or stuck with me for longer. This is more about my personal story with this music and less about the songs themselves.
  • Estranged Siblings takes a look at songs that describe the same topics from different points of view. Sometimes in different moods, sometimes evoking totally different emotions.

Do you use AI on this page?

Nope. I brainstormed about this page with a girlfriend of mine and asked an AI about the idea, but threw most of it's advice overboard. I don't use AI to bring you this content but I can't guarantee that the music I listen to is free of that, even if I would prefer that.

You can be certain though that every word you read here was dreamed up by me - Mono - a human. It's a page about music and the emotions it tickles out of me (or you).
